In 2006, two founders, a tiny office, and a big dream set the stage for what would become Qbit. Today, in 2026, we celebrate 20 years of growth, endurance, and customer‑centred innovation. This milestone is not just a celebration of time—it’s a celebration of the people, clients, and partners who helped shape Qbit into the thriving company it is today.
Humble Beginnings (2006–2007)
Qbit’s story began in 2006 under the name Uptime, created by Dave and Craig. With only two owners and one employee, the business operated out of a small office in Malaga. At the time, Dave brought a handful of clients from his consulting business, DGC Computech Pty Ltd, while Craig drove the sales engine.
Our first-ever employee, Guy, joined during these early days—helping solidify the technical foundations that would power our growth.
Laying the Foundations (2008–2010)
In 2008, the company purchased its first major property: Unit 16, 386 Wanneroo Rd, Westminster, and moved operations there—a significant step in establishing a long-term home.
In 2009, we welcomed Yvonne, who would go on to become Qbit’s longest‑serving current employee. Her arrival also marked the beginning of our move into VOIP services, broadening our technology capabilities.
But as with any growing business, challenges came. In 2009, we lost a major client—a difficult setback that tested our resilience.
By 2010, still with fewer than 10 employees, we regrouped, rebranded to Qbit Computers, and welcomed Fabio as a new owner. Fabio brought with him a wealth of expertise and customers from his consultancy, Intelligent Products, adding momentum to our recovery and renewed direction.
Acceleration & Recognition (2014–2017)
2014 marked a turning point. Qbit acquired Provida, significantly increasing our scale and capabilities. That same year, we earned a spot in the CRN Fast50, recognising us as one of Australia’s fastest‑growing IT companies.
Growth surged again in 2015 with the exit of co‑founder Craig and the start of a major expansion cycle.
In 2017, Qbit:
- Purchased Suite 1, 45 Ord Street
- Expanded further into the mining and exploration sector
- Secured a second CRN Fast50 placement
These achievements cemented our reputation as a provider with both stability and momentum.
Resilience Through Change (2019–2021)
In 2019, we purchased Unit 15, 386 Wanneroo Rd, expanding our Westminster footprint. Shortly after, the world changed with COVID‑19—a challenge that forced rapid adaptation. We helped clients transition to remote work with speed, reliability, and the same personal service they’d always known us for.
In 2020, we acquired PC Guru, further strengthening our customer support capabilities.
By 2021, Qbit achieved another milestone: ISO 9001 certification, recognising our commitment to quality and service. That same year, we earned our third CRN Fast50 induction—an incredible testament to our sustained growth.
Security, Services & Sustainability (2024–2026)
In 2024, Qbit expanded its security offerings and proudly achieved ISO 27001, demonstrating our dedication to robust data security practices. We also introduced cabling services, ensuring more comprehensive end‑to‑end solutions for our clients.
Today, in 2026, Qbit stands strong with 45 employees—a far cry from the three people in a Malaga office two decades ago.
As we celebrate our 20-year anniversary, we continue our commitment to excellence with our current pursuit of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Sustainability). These certifications reflect our belief that success isn’t just about technology—it’s about people, environment, safety, and long-term responsibility.
Looking Forward: The Next 20 Years
