Qbit IT Solutions’ 8th Drive4MND: A Weekend of Community, Camaraderie, and Change
Reflecting on a Remarkable Journey to Support Australians Living with Motor Neuron Disease
Every year, Qbit IT Solutions proudly takes part in the Drive4MND, a unique charity event that brings together people from all walks of life for a worthy cause. Now in its eighth year, the Drive4MND is about more than just cars and country roads; it’s a heartfelt mission to raise much-needed funds and awareness for Australians living with Motor Neuron Disease (MND). Our team’s continued involvement in this event underlines our commitment to making a difference, both within our industry and in the broader community.
There have been 13 Drive4MND events and Qbit IT Solutions has been there for the last 8. This year’s Drive was fun and inspiring and, with the help of our generous clients, friends, and family, Qbit IT Solutions has helped raise about $8,000 for MND research and support services. Every cent raised goes directly towards easing the burden for those affected by this devastating disease through Care Cure Support. There was a sense of unity and purpose, with everyone pitching in to make this event the success that it was. It was a great reminder of the power of community and what we can achieve when we all work together.
The Friday morning kicked off with a scrumptious breakfast, sponsored by Qbit IT Solutions and Softball WA, where we were joined by local supporters and guest speakers. One highlight was the moving talk from a dedicated physio who works closely with MND patients. She shared inspiring stories of resilience and explained that donations from Care Cure Support, raised mainly through the Drive4MND, directly fund essential equipment and therapies. Her words reminded us how much our fundraising truly matters, leaving us humbled and inspired to do even more.
After breakfast, the convoy of colourful stickered up cars, took to the open road. This year’s mystery route was full of surprises, taking us through stunning and unexpected spots like Bailup Ford Farm, Avondale Farm Stay, Pingelly, Mandurah, Mega Fast Karts Wanneroo, the sandy playground of Lancelin, and the historic charm of New Norcia. What an adventure! Along the way, there was plenty of friendly banter, a few challenges, and lots of laughter. The drive is more than a journey; it’s a chance to forge new friendships, share stories, and soak up the Aussie spirit of mateship. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned participant, the Drive4MND adventure is always a memorable one.

Friday night was a blast at Murphy’s Irish Pub—good vibes, great company, and all for a fantastic cause. Of course, no Drive4MND event is complete without the charity auction, and this year the big prize everyone wanted was an Adam Gilchrist bat!
On Saturday night, we held our usual themed party at the mystery location of New Norcia, with this year’s theme being ‘Back to School’. The atmosphere was nothing short of electric—a true celebration of community and creativity. Guests arrived in playful back-to-school costumes, adding a nostalgic twist to the night and setting the tone for an evening of fun. The band Grimly took the stage, engaged the room with rock classics that had everyone singing along and dancing to the beat.
People celebrated as it was announced that $220,000 was raised, a testament to the generosity and spirit of everyone in the room.
But amid the revelry, there were moments of deep reflection. A heartfelt tribute honoured those we’ve lost to MND, reminding us of the profound purpose behind the celebration. We also paused to remember Michael Burton, one of our original volunteers, whose passing in 2022 from cancer left a lasting void. These tributes grounded the evening, reminding us why we gather each year and why the fight against MND matters so deeply.

Motor Neuron Disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects nerve cells responsible for muscle movement. For those living with MND, everyday tasks become increasingly difficult, and there is currently no cure. That’s why fundraising and awareness are so vital. By supporting events like the Drive4MND, we help fund research into new treatments and provide practical support for families doing it tough. Our contributions bring hope and comfort where it’s needed most.
Taking part in the Drive4MND each year is a highlight for the Qbit team. It’s a chance to step outside our usual work, give back, and be reminded of what really matters. Charity work isn’t just about raising funds; it’s about building connections, spreading kindness, and making a tangible difference in people’s lives. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be involved and encourage everyone to find their own way to give back, no matter how big or small.

If you’ve been inspired by our journey, we invite you to get involved. Whether you join us for next year’s Drive4MND, make a donation, or simply help spread the word, every bit helps. Together, we can make a real difference in the fight against MND.
